I picked up Superman: The Man of Steel #18, which features the full debut of Doomsday, the one who killed Superman. I never had the issue back in the day, so I picked one up on eBay. It was the Newsstand “variant,” so that’s cool. I love the cover. It’s an epic punch from Doomsday (not completely revealed, yet), shattering the comic’s logo!

I’ve enjoyed reading Spider-Gwen, but I missed a few issues when my local shop closed down (R.I.P. Rising Sun Comics). So at another shop I picked up Spider-Gwen #24. When I bought it, I didn’t notice it was a 2nd printing edition, so I’ll have to get a 1st printing some day.

One of my favorite sub-genres of comics to collect is the Repeating Digit Comic. That’s why I picked up The Punisher #222.

I started my comic book reading life in 1987, with Amazing Spider-Man #293 (actually, Web of Spider-Man #31 [actually, Amazing Spider-Man #266]), and it’s quite interesting to see the book at issue $800! I picked up #798. Red Goblin!

Thanos is hot, and it’s cool that Marvel published a couple of True Believers reprints of The Mad Titan: Iron Man #55 and Avengers #125. For only one dollar, how can you pass that up?

Archie Comics has really embraced the WTH Crossover (witness Archie Meets the Punisher, Archie Meets Glee, and more), so it’s really fun to see another one. I picked up issues 4, 5, and 6 of Harley and Ivy Meet Betty and Veronica.

Speaking of high-number comics, Action Comics #1000 is out! I picked up #999 when it debuted, but this time I went back and picked up #998. Very nice variant cover. Sort of a pensive Superman.

Pulling out my hipster card, I used to enjoy Artgerm‘s images before you did. ? In this haul I picked up Supergirl #20, his last work on that series.

Speaking of amazing art, I bought the Mercado subscription variant cover of Rocko’s Modern Life #1 for cover price! eBay shows the book is to be had for a pretty petty. I’m happy about this pickup. Plus, the art is astounding.

Another book that I’m very happy I picked up was the 1:100 Retailer Incentive variant of the new Sonic the Hedgehog comic from IDW. One shop was selling it for $99.99, but at the shop I visited, it was a lot less. Score! I also picked up #2.

All in all, a great haul! What did you get for New Comic Book day?
