To add to the difficulty, I limited myself to exactly 100 words each.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, a story that is one hundred words long is called a\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/drablr.com\" target=\"_blank\">Drabble<\/a><\/em>. It was fun to confine myself to just such a format. Here is a sample of a horror story for the month of October:<\/p>\n<h3>Day 25<\/h3>\n<pre>With horrors to shock the mind,\r\nAnd\u00a0to\u00a0numb any soul,\r\nIt had struck in kind,\r\nThe Writhing Mass took its grisly toll.\r\n\r\nBroken bodies and mangled flesh,\r\nChoked all our\u00a0streets again.\r\nWith a deep, and ruddy\u00a0pain,\r\nThe Writhing Mass burbled afresh.\r\n\r\nIt had landed on our verdant shores long ago,\r\nAnd it brought a savagery no one could ever know.\r\nAll the grave plots we would forgo.\r\nThe Writhing Mass did overflow.\r\n\r\nA strong desire to persevere,\r\nAnd a stubborn will to live,\r\nAll fell flat and dead,\r\nAt the feet of the Writhing Mass from Hell.<\/pre>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/vmcampos.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/vmcampos-halloween-day-25.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-719 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/vmcampos.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/vmcampos-halloween-day-25.png\" alt=\"Horror Story #25\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vmcampos.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/vmcampos-halloween-day-25.png 640w, https:\/\/vmcampos.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/vmcampos-halloween-day-25-300x225.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Read this and <a href=\"https:\/\/vmcamposjr.wordpress.com\" target=\"_blank\">more horror stories<\/a> at my writing blog.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>During the month of October, I challenged myself to write a short horror story every day.
