There’s something about Comic-Con that turns the biggest prudes into raging exhibitionists. There must be something in the water. This chap was brave enough to walk the Convention Center floor in nothing but his underwear and silver paint. And speaking of dedication, he’s also bald, and created that cool eye effect the comic book character has by simply closing his eyes. Genius! This entry gives me an idea: look for me in a Conan the Barbarian cosplay next year.

Who says only people can have fun at Comic-Con? This little pup got into the spirit of things by riding his bad-ass bike around the Sails Pavilion. He was so good at it that he didn’t even need to touch the handlebars! Animals aren’t allowed at Comic-Con, unless they’re helper animals or bad-ass like Iggy from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. I can’t wait to see someone’s pet iguana dressed like Captain EO.

3. Captain EO
If you’ve ever visited Disneyland between 198x and 199x you might have braved the lines to be a part of the 4D extravaganza by Michael Jackson. I remember reaching out to touch the screen when things flew at me. Yes. People do that. When they’re kids. I haven’t seen the film since the late 80s. So it was quite amazing to see someone dressed up as Captain EO at the Comic-Con. I asked him to dance, but all he did was pose menacingly.

I love it when groups get into the Comic-Con spirit together (see the bonus entry below…). So this was a fun entry. Who doesn’t love Steampunk? And a family of Steampunkers? F-yeah! I love the brass and goggles. If I was cooler, I’d probably go in full Steampunk regalia to Comic-Con 2012. Anyway, this entry is great for all the attention to detail. Now, let me ask you, do you think that little girl will be scarred for life because her parents shoved her into a neo-Victorian fantasy outfit for four days?

Darkwing Duck & Megavolt

I grew up watching The Disney Afternoon. I loved Ducktales, Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers, and Tailspin. Darkwing Duck was great, too. What’s not to love about a Batman-esque anti-hero, raising his adopted daughter, in the dark streets of St. Canard, fighting villains like a dog made of water, and a duck who became a plant? Nothing! It’s all good. Just like this pair of cosplayers. Can you fathom this? TWO GUYS DRESSED UP AS DARKWING DUCK AND MEGA VOLT. And that, is why they are they best costumes at San Diego Comic-Con 2011.
